April 2024 Goals

Updated: Jun 4

Happy Monday, and Happy April Fools Day! I personally don't celebrate the holiday, but I like seeing what pranks and jokes others come up with. It's been a while since I posted about my goals, so we're starting fresh with Q2. My main focus points this quarter are Faith, Health and Wellness, and blogging.

Powersheets Goal Planner

Faith Goals

It's been a struggle this year staying consistent with prayer and Bible study. Even going to church has been difficult due to a new health issue (I'll share more when I cover health and wellness). I joined the Daily Grace Co. Collective this year, and I like the studies. I did great with the first one, and okay with the second one. But two days after the third one is when I got sick, and it went downhill from there. This season, I'm going to be focusing on finishing the Bible studies and being active in the Facebook group.

Another goal is prayer journaling every day. I used to do it all the time, but it's a discipline that's gone to the wayside over the past few years. I bought a new journal, and I plan to journal every night before bed as part of my evening routine. I think sharing what happened during the day with the Lord will be a relaxing way to quiet my mind before bed.

Health and Wellness Goals

As I mentioned earlier, I had a new health issue come up in February. It kind of started last October. I struggled a lot with fatigue, and exercise became more difficult. Before I knew it, I was spending most of my days in bed. My heart rate was all over the place (and still is sometimes), ranging from 40s-160+ some days. Eventually, I ended up going to get checked out at Urgent Care and was taken by ambulance to the hospital. I stayed three days so my heart could be tested. It's fine structurally, (thankfully!), but I was told I have POTS and Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia.

Anyway, now that you've been caught up, here's what I hope to work on. My water intake until recently was awful. I survived off of Diet Dr. Pepper and iced coffee. But I've really increased my water intake since, and added electrolytes. It seems to keep my heart happy, so I want to maintain my current level of hydration.

I was also told I have low iron, so I began taking prescription iron. I also added methyl folate to help my energy levels. I want to get back into some sort of exercise routine, though I can no longer do the workouts I did previously. Currently, I'm following "Grow with Jo" on YouTube, and I like the workouts so far. I hope to stick with them through April and see how I feel. I also want to get back into the gym, lifting.

Another quick update on "30 before 30": I'm a Green Belt in Taekwondo. I was hoping to reach Blue Belt by July, but that looks very, very unlikely at this point. I'm also doing a modified program. I'll still become a Black Belt, but it will look a little different from most students. I don't mind too much, and I'm really happy I'll get to finish the program.

Blogging Goals

I've been really happy with my blogging journey so far! You guys enjoy my Freida McFadden reviews a lot: those are my most popular posts. I've been working on monetizing, and I'm hoping to be profitable by the end of 2024. To do that, I've been working on my Pinterest account. I still have a lot to learn, but I think I'm slowly getting there.

Other Thoughts

My other goals are related to Family and Learning, and include date night and homeschooling. I'm feeling hopeful for the month of April, and I have lots of fun content planned, including more Freida McFadden posts. One by One comes out tomorrow, and I really enjoyed reading it! I hope you guys have a fantastic month, and I'll see you in the next post. Don't forget to subscribe!

-xx Alycia
