Wow! I can't believe we've reached the end of 2023. Did it go how you planned? Most likely not. It definitely didn't for me. But I'm so glad! In January, I never would've guessed the path I would go down this year. Some highlights: starting Alycia Plans, getting two(!) part-time jobs, and getting into taekwondo. As excited as I am to see how 2024 will unfold, let's keep our attention on 2023, shall we?
This month, my main focus is spending time with my family. I have several activities planned: seeing Christmas lights, holiday baking, and getting professional family photos (which we've never done before!). Some other important items: setting my 2024 goals, date night out, and Book-ish club with my friends.
Setting my 2024 goals has been interesting this year. I'm still not one hundred percent sure they're the right ones, but I have to start somewhere. For the first time...ever, I think, I've struggled trying to figure out where I can improve. Not to say I'm perfect by any means. But, I'm overall pretty satisfied with my life. I don't have that "new year, new me" urge. I suppose that's a good thing, but we'll see!
I really enjoy baking holiday treats for my friends and neighbors. I haven't done any shopping for it, or even made a list of what I want to make, but I will find some time soon. Seeing Christmas lights has been a holiday tradition since Z was little, and it's always so much fun.
This month for Book-ish club, we're playing Dirty Santa with books/bookish gifts, and decorating "snackle boxes". If you don't know what those are, go check out Pinterest. They look so fun! I want to prioritize date nights out in 2024, but why not start now?
Weekly Action Items
My weekly goals include continuing to post on my blog, having date night in every Saturday, practicing taekwondo twice per week, and of course, planning my week. It probably feels like I shouldn't need to keep writing these down, but they are goals, and it's always nice to be able to mark things off as you do them. It's great motivation, and it's one of my favorite productivity tips.
Daily Action Items/Habits
This year, we got Z and B themed advent calendars, and they've had a great time opening them so far. Z and I are trying to advance to Green Belt, so we are spending even more time practicing. As a gift for working in my church nursery, I received an Advent Bible study, and I'm looking forward to starting it soon. Of course, I have reading on my daily list (as if I need a reminder!), Christmas School, and posting on social media.
That's it! My Tending List is very laid back this month as we wind down and celebrate the holiday season. What are your December goals? How are you planning to celebrate the holidays? I'd love to hear from you!
-xx Alycia
