Happy Planner Monday! Today, I want to share a brand new resource from Cultivate What Matters (still not sponsored!), the Habit Workbook. If you're like me, you know what goals you have, and a general idea of how to accomplish them. But actually implementing habits and being consistent with them? That's another thing.
Habits are what keep us moving towards our goals, and so it's important to learn how to implement them, so we can focus on what's important to us. I loved the prep work in this resource. Cultivate What Matters is known for their prep work that allows you to dig deep and think about your goals and why they matter to you. The Habit Workbook did not disappoint.
It began by asking you to list your positive and negative habits in your routine. Some of my positive ones are eating breakfast, doing my quiet time, completing chores, reading, exercising, and homeschooling. My big negative habit is endless scrolling. I learned I don't have any boundaries with social media, so I'm working on changing that. I knew it was an issue, but I didn't realize it until I did this prep work.
The next pages talk about the power of habits, and asks you to list which current habits matter most to you in relation to your big-picture goals. Some of my big-picture goals are raising my children in God's ways, having a healthy marriage, growing life-long relationships, following Jesus, launching a successful blog, and having a healthy body. It then asks you what habits will help you reach those goals. Some of mine include more prayer, date nights and quality time with my kids, blogging three times per week, budgeting-and following through with it, and scheduling workouts. There's a nice reminder that little by little adds up, and a space to list where you've already seen that in your life.
The next section is about choosing the right habits for the season you're in. If you're a stay-at-home-mom with a newborn, your season will look different from a college student. Some of my opportunities and limitations include limited free time with work and homeschooling, and my support system. There's a space to list what habits will help you spend your time well for the next 90 days, as well as listing why your habits are important to you.
Next up is how you're going to cultivate your good habits. Connecting my habits to identity statements was so helpful. For example, one of my habits is journaling my prayers. My identity statement is "I am connected to God". Making a pros and cons list and highlighting benefits has helped keep me motivated to continue working on my habits. The last few pages focus on changing your environment, your community, your routines, and your schedule. At the end, you get a troubleshooting guide, lots of habit trackers, and mini vision boards for your habits.
I love this resource so much, and using it alongside my Powersheets will help me accomplish more, with purpose. I hope this post inspires you to work on some goals today!
