Happy birthday month to me! I can't believe I'm entering the last year of my 20s. There's so much I'd hoped to accomplish, and some things I did accomplish that I never thought I would. I had a plan, of course. Doesn't everyone? Mine was perfect. I was going to graduate high school early as a homeschooler. I hadn't picked a college yet, but I was hoping to go an Ivy League school, or at least somewhere on the East coast. I wanted to be a marine biologist (I later learned I'm terrified of the ocean, so that wouldn't have worked out anyway), and swim with the dolphins. I had also considered being an architect, combining my love of drawing and art with my career. I thought becoming an attorney sounded cool as well. I planned to marry sometime after graduating college, around 23, and having kids between the ages of 28 and 32. It was perfect right?
Well, God had other plans. I met my amazing husband at 17, and married him at 18. I didn't end up graduating high school until I was 18, and I stayed here in Oklahoma when I went to college. Initially I was interested in becoming a dietitian, and then I changed to early childhood education. My sophomore year, I got pregnant with our first child. I withdrew, and planned on going back the following year. That didn't work out, and in 2016, I went to community college. I did graduate in 2018 with an associate's in diversified studies though! In 2019, I got pregnant with our second child. In between events, we bought a house, had mental health struggles and diagnoses, had many celebrations, and just lived life.
My 20s taught me I can plan as much as I want, but it rarely works out exactly as you hoped. My life is very different from what I planned. But that's okay. I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. My life turned out exactly as it was supposed to. I'm still learning. Learning to love the life I was given, learning how to be a mom as my children grow and change, and learning how to be the best version of myself possible.
Going into my 30s, I have 30 things I want to accomplish. I will document them here, along with some posts about motherhood, marriage, mental health, and of course, planning. I can't wait to go on this journey with you and hopefully learn even more about myself in the process.
