I'm So Glad I Live in a World Where There Are Octobers

Updated: Apr 7

October is finally here, and so is my favorite season -- Fall! October is seriously one of my favorite months. Here in Oklahoma, temps finally begin to drop, and I *might* get to wear a sweater if we're really lucky! We're usually not (aside from the ice storm a few years ago -- who else remembers that?), but I can hope. Today, I'm going to share how September went, and what my goals are for this month.

September Goal Update

September Tending List

September was a good month! I accomplished most of my goals. I completed all of my Monthly Action Items, which included going on a date with Rob, completing my second home project, organizing my closet, organizing Z and B's winter clothing, decorating for Fall (Let's be honest. It was already done when I put this on my Tending List), and planning my October content. I actually ended up planning my content for the remainder of 2023, which was a huge relief and accomplishment.

Moving on to my Weekly Action Items. I was super consistent in taekwondo practice. I'm so glad I'm making this a habit. Our school changed things up, and there's new requirements for rank promotion. We have to practice a lot more at home now. I was pretty consistent in publishing three blog posts every week. Making content is truly the highlight of my week, so this was an easy one. I only added it because I just like checking things off. The last one was trying a new recipe every week. I actually edited my "30 by 30" challenge to only trying one new recipe per month. Fifty-two recipes was a bit ambitious for my current season.

My Daily Action Items were having quiet time, posting on my social media accounts, taking my vitamins, homeschooling, completing my chores, working on my no-spend challenge (Don't ask how that went. Hint: It didn't.), and practicing on Duolingo. I think everything went well, except my no spending goal and Duolingo practice. It was hard to find the time to practice French and Greek, and I knew the no-spend challenge would be extremely difficult. I also forgot to take my vitamins a few times. Overall, I'm happy with how September went. Now, on to my October goals.

October Goals

October Tending List

I love how I decorated this month. While organizing yet another area of my life, I found the Cultivate What Matters Goal Stick Book I ordered with this planner, but I never actually used. I decided to try using up as many as I can, because I will also be purchasing this year's sticker book...which I will also most likely forget to use. Oh, well.

My October Monthly Action Items include: uploading my journals I made in Canva to Kindle Direct Publishing, signing up for my 5K race, completing my third home project, paying off my Ulta store credit card, scheduling a date night with Rob, planning B's birthday party, writing in our monthly budget, AND ordering my 2024 Powersheets Goal Planner. That Action Item got a gold star. That's how excited I am to order this week.

My Weekly Action Items are writing my blog posts every week, communicating with my community, hitting the gym to train for my 5K, and getting in extra taekwondo practice. I think these will be pretty easy to accomplish. Although, I haven't felt like going to the gym in weeks, which is why I put it down as a goal. I think I need some fresh motivation, and this might help. I made a new list of people I'd like to reach out to on a weekly basis, and I plan on plugging each name on different days in my planner. That will help remind me to send a quick text, or maybe make a phone call.

Finally, my Daily Action Items. They're fairly similar to September's. I chose to implement screen-free time for myself and my kids from the hours of ten a.m. to three p.m., outside of work, or school. I'm so glad I was able to establish a new quiet time routine last month. I'd been in a rut for a while, and I finally got out and reconnected. I ordered a Gratitude journal from the Daily Grace Co, and I absolutely love writing what I'm grateful for each night. I think it *is* making me more content. Who knew? I still have my social media goals, chores, and Duolingo. I also added tracking our expenses. Although I gave up on the no-spend challenge after about ten days, I still learned a lot and continued to cut back on spending. I consider that a success.

And that's it! I'm looking forward to what this month will bring, especially as we head into the holiday season. I hope I will be productive, and I will check in with you at the end of the month. If you have any goals this month, be sure to share them in the comments. Let's go have a great month, week, and day.
