It's too hot to be outside...so let's plan some goals instead.

Updated: Apr 7

Every month is a fresh start! I'm four days late, but I finally made time to write out my goals. Did you know you're 42% more likely to accomplish your goals if you write them down? It's true! A Harvard psychology professor said so. The research is clearly there. You can look it up if you don't believe me.

Anyway, this is why every single year since 2020, I have purchased the Powersheets Goal Planner from Cultivate What Matters. I absolutely adore it. The beginning part is full of "prep work" to get you thinking about where you are now, where you'd like to be, and what your goals are. One of my favorite questions is, "Where do you see yourself when you're 80?". That one always makes me think, and it's different every year. While the prep work is the meat and potatoes, the gravy (which is the best part, agreed?) is in the monthly Tending List.

This is my Tending List for July. Here is where I write down everything I'd like to accomplish, including daily and weekly habits.

Going through my monthly list, I have Bookish Club, which is something my friend Shea started this year. We get together and chat about what books we're currently reading and eat snacks. It's so much fun. Next, I have Taeguek 1 and 2 on my list. These are forms, kind of like choreographed dances, I have to learn as I progress through belt ranks. Orange belt requires I learn Taeguek 1 and 2. After that, I have date night scheduled with R. We don't get enough time alone (life with kids, right?), and it's important we do. So putting that on the calendar is a priority. Celebrating my birthday is a must, although I'm not sure what we'll do yet. Any suggestions? The last things on my list pertain to blogging and setting my goals for next month.

My weekly list is pretty similar, with Taekwondo practice, playdates, quality time with my husband and kids, and blogging. My daily habits include keeping track of my Bible reading plan, drinking enough water, getting my steps in, taking my vitamins, and reading for fun. Although, I always make time for that!

So that's it. Everything I hope to accomplish in July. It's shaping up to be a relaxed social month, before things pick up again in August. I love seeing tangible proof of progress through my Tending List every month. That, and pretty pens, is what motivates me to keep reaching towards the Big Finish Line.

P.S. Is anyone else ready for fall yet? Dreaming of cooler days and falling leaves!
