Time for a Goal Refresh!

Updated: Apr 9

One thing I love about the Cultivate What Matters Powersheets Goal Planner is the chance to refresh your goals every quarter. The Cultivated Goal Refresh is comprised of several pages designed to help you evaluate where you are in your goal process, and help you decide where you might want to make some changes. At the beginning of your Powersheets, you'll find yearly Prep Pages. These pages are where you decide what your goals will be and outline how you will accomplish them. The Quarterly Refresh is similar, but on a much smaller scale.

What's inside the Quarterly Goal Refresh Pages?

It begins with a Cultivated Life Evaluation. The evaluation gives you a chance to revisit your score in eight categories of your life: Community, Family, Finances, Fun+Recreation, Health+Wellness, Home+Spaces, Spiritual+Personal growth, and Work+Learning. You score yourself on a scale of one to ten. This is one of my favorite pages because I enjoy seeing where I've made progress. Sometimes, I slip up in an area and I give myself a lower score than before. But that is still useful. I can make the changes I need to get back on track.

The next page prompts you to reflect some more on where you've grown, and where you need to refocus your efforts. It also gives you a space for some "I'm saying 'yes' to" and "I'm saying 'no' to" statements. Mine are typically along the lines of saying "no" to too much social media, and "yes" to working on my blog, or spending time with my kids. Every time I do a refresh, I learn something new about myself and what I need to work on. We're always a work in progress; but remember "progress not perfection!".

Finally, you get to write down your Refreshed Goals. If you purchase the sticker book, you get several pages of color-coding flags to fill in the outlines on this page. The colors match each of the eight categories. You may not have eight goals for the year, or you may want to only focus on a few of them each quarter. I tend to pick a goal from each category, and change them throughout the year as I see fit.

The last set of pages in the Quarterly Refresh give you space to outline how you will accomplish your goals this quarter. You get two pages of dot grid paper. You can make a new vision board, write out action steps, or maybe add some incentives for accomplishing your goals. It's up to you how you utilize them. That's everything included in the refresh. I'll share how I filled out my refresh this time, and what my new goals are below.

I was so excited to set some new goals. I hadn't set any new ones since I launched my blog and began my "30 by 30" journey. My new goals are reflective of that. My first goal is for my Family category. I'm always looking to establish better routines and spend more quality time with my kids. The "mom guilt" is real, even though we shouldn't feel guilty. I know we're all doing our best. But, maybe this will be the season I finally "get it together". I'm hoping to make more time for read-alouds in our homeschool day, and maybe have some family movie nights, or game nights. I'd love to have some traditions like that, so my kids can look back on that when they grow up.

The next category is Work+Learning. This includes everything for my blog and business. I'm hoping to create some more products for Kindle Direct Publishing, but I'm really proud of the product I have in progress for 2024. I'm also working to gain more followers and subscribers on social media. Growth has been slower than I'd like, but I'm brainstorming ways to improve it.

In my Community area, I'd love to continue working on establishing relationships. I have this thing where if I don't see you every day, I almost forget you exist...until two in the morning when I can't sleep. My plan is to create a list of everyone I want to reach out to on a weekly basis. I want to check-in with them, and see if they need specific prayer. Other than that, I'm very satisfied with the community I've built. I definitely have my "village", and I appreciate each and every one of them.

For Spiritual Growth, I've been working towards reading the Bible in it's entirety. It's taken a long time, but I've almost finished it. I've enjoyed seeing Scripture unfold as I read, and I'm learning so much about God and my faith.

My Health+Wellness goal is to complete the 5k I put on my bucket list. There's a race involving hot chocolate and candy canes in December, and I'm going to sign up for that one. That's great motivation right? I injured myself during taekwondo in May, and I still haven't fully healed. Running has been slower than I'd like, but if I complete the race in under an hour, I'll be happy.

Home+Spaces is always a work in progress. There's always something that needs to be done maintenance-wise, or spaces that need decluttering. I have several projects on my list this quarter, and you know I'll be documenting them as I go. I hope they motivate and inspire you to tackle some of your own home projects.

One of the "fun" items on my bucket list is to go wine tasting. I think that's a perfect holiday activity, so I plan to do that this quarter. I need to pick a place to go, although I've gotten some recommendations from friends. I'm hoping to get a group together and make a girl's day out of it.

My final category is Finances. I think we can all agree this is a tough category. I seem to always have something that needs to be paid off, or need to replenish our savings account. This quarter, I have three store cards I want to pay off. That's the next step in our Debt-free Journey. In 2024, I have some much bigger goals to accomplish, and I can't wait to share them with you.

If you can't tell, I absolutely love Powersheets. I question myself every year and ask if I should purchase them again, but I always do. They're an amazing tool that can help you accomplish your goals and have to life you dream of. Again, I'm not sponsored (maybe one day!), but I truly believe in the power of Cultivating What Matters. I hope this was helpful, and I'll see you in my September Update/October Goals post.
